How to Select a Generator With Suitable Power
2026-08-24
Many overseas customers simply choose Generators based on the rated power of their equipment, without considering motor starting surge, unstable local power supply and power margin, which leads to frequent overload shutdowns later. A recent case from XHZ power solutions for a Uganda client can serve as a practical reference.
Case Study
The client runs a facility on the outskirts of Kampala. Its continuous total load is around 80kW, including multiple water pumps and processing machines with heavy motor starting current, while regular power cuts are common locally. We calculated the simultaneous operating loads, factored in the maximum inrush current and reserved a 25% safety margin. Matching Uganda’s 415V/50Hz standard, we finally recommended a 125kVA silent diesel Generator Set with ATS.

Key Guidelines
Key selection tips: calculate surge loads, reserve proper power margin and comply with local voltage & frequency. Proper selection avoids frequent breakdowns without overspending on oversized units. We provide customized power solutions for factories, mines, clinics and other sites.
