Why does a diesel generator suddenly shut down?

The sudden shutdown of  a diesel Generator Set during operation will greatly affect the output efficiency of the unit, and seriously delay the progress of various production processes, causing huge economic losses. So, what is the reason for the sudden shutdown of a diesel generator set?

When automatic shutdown occurs, there is no abnormal phenomenon in the sound of diesel generator operation and exhaust smoke color as the speed gradually decreases.

The main reason is that the diesel in the fuel tank is used up, which may be due to the fuel tank switch being turned on; Or the fuel tank vent, fuel filter, and fuel transfer pump may be blocked; Or if the oil circuit is not sealed and air enters, causing "air resistance" (accompanied by unstable speed before turning off the engine), it is necessary to check the low-pressure oil circuit. First, check whether the oil tank, filter, oil tank switch, and fuel pump are blocked, short of oil or the switch is not turned on. Then loosen the air screw on the fuel injection pump, press the fuel pump button, and observe the oil flow at the vent screw. If there is no oil flowing out, it is a blockage in the oil circuit. If there are bubbles in the oil flowing out, it is that air has entered the oil circuit and needs to be checked and eliminated section by section.

When automatically turning off, the operation is continuously unstable and there is an abnormal knocking sound. The main reasons are piston pin breakage, crankshaft breakage, connecting rod bolt breakage or loosening, valve clamp spring, valve lock plate detachment, valve stem or valve spring breakage, resulting in valve detachment, etc. Once this condition is detected during the operation of the diesel generator, it should be immediately shut down for inspection to avoid causing major mechanical accidents. It can be sent to a professional maintenance point for a comprehensive inspection.

When the diesel generator automatically shuts down, the speed will gradually decrease, the operation will be unstable, and white smoke will be emitted from the exhaust pipe

The main reasons are that there is water in the diesel, the cylinder gasket is damaged, or the automatic pressure reduction is damaged. Need to replace the cylinder gasket and adjust the pressure reducing mechanism. Before the automatic shutdown, there was no abnormality, but it suddenly shut down.
